Photography being an art of capturing moments which can be relished later, needs a vision to understand and try to make the other person depict the feelings hidden behind the clicked photograph. A good photograph is a blend of perfect timing, perfect lighting and perfect expression of the moment.

Architecture being the mother of all arts needs photography as a backbone support for making and exhibiting itself. At the initial stages of learning architecture, learning photography would make it more interesting and useful. Taking this into consideration, architecture students of B V B College, Hubli were guided to an enticing experience with nature at its purest form.

Day 1 : 18th Jan 2010

The interactive workshop which was attended by 14 architecture students was conducted for two days with one night stay. An early start on 18th January 2010 at 7 AM for the students carried with a lot of enthusiasm and inquisitiveness was boosted with the arrangements that welcomed them at Hittalhalli. An authentic Malenad breakfast which was relished at Shri Nagendra Bhat’s abode, was followed by an inauguration ceremony of the workshop which created a very pious environment. The arrangements were all made by Shri Sadashiv Bhat, who didn’t miss out on any details of hospitality.

Trying one’s skills at photography as amateurs, being in the company of a renowned and creative photographer, who can give life to any still, frozen moment, would be like an icing on the cake. Shri Nagendra Muthumurdu, an award winning well known photographer took up the first session which was scheduled at Shri Venkanna Jallimane’s residence at Hittalhalli. Proving to be a good artist himself, Sri Venkanna Jallimane possessed an interesting collection of bottles and Ganesha Idols in a museum at his residence. This being the perfect place to start the shoot out with cameras, and also with Sri Muthumurdu’s able guidance, the students could grasp the basic techniques of zoom, lighting, flash and capture. By then, the team was aware that Sri Muthumurdu’s works have been featured in magazines like Sudha, Taranga etc and by a mere look at his precious portfolio works, anyone would be confirmed how well advanced is the artist in his profession.
